I haven’t lived in many cities in the quarter years of my life, but the one thing that I have figured out is that I want to live in a city where I do not feel any inhibition or the lack of motivation to walk around aimlessly. It is a personal feeling of choice that I am talking about here. I realised that I will not be able to walk around Chennai just for the heck of it, after barring the weather effect on me. Even on the shores of the beach, I wouldn’t want to walk by myself. There is something unappealing and appalling about that idea. Whereas, in

Ya...walking alone in a city is indeed a good idea. But in delhi you can do it around the relics or some good lanes...
hmmm...maybe all of us love the places where we came to be on our own...where we ceased to be someone's daughter, someone's sister someone's someone, and became just us.
I can so relate with this. I cant seem to like any other place, I want to be in bangalore only. Like you said, the familiarity of the city and also cos I dont like change!
Well said. I too love walking but you don't feel like it in all the places you go to. There are practical aspects (for e.g. the weather) and then there are some non-practical aspects.
I like Bangalore for that. I liked London too. Even the town (Milford) that I lived in in the US. New York is amazing for walking too. It makes you feel both tiny and superhuman at the same time.
So when are we going on a walking tour of some nice place in Bangalore?
I understand what you're saying...I weather and constraints etc all make a difference. For instance there was never great joy in getting out for a walk in Delhi but here it's liberating.
I also remember how many hours I had to cajole and bribe you to go out for walks with me till one day it was the most natural thing :) Miss ya...loads! Jus remembered Northwick Park...haven't been there in over a year can you beat it?
London is splendid for walking, because a) you cant get lost, even inside you b) you are not self-conscious c) the weather is good d) everywhere is sight-seeing.
but u cant walk aimlessly everyday, wherever you are. if you want to be, just be - look inside, not outside.
@sravan - Weather is good in London?!?
@varun - OK, i visited the end of summer almost, and it was perfect for sight-seeing and walking around. God save the souls that have to brave the winter. but i guess u can atleast walk? chennai, we bathe wen v walk, throughout the year.
@sravan - I can completely relate to what you said about Chennai. I have also been lucky to experience good weather in London when I was there... in fact it was beautiful :-)
